I have had brake pads replaced, new tires and get regular oil changes about every 6,000 miles. A few minor things, like a broken latch on the hatchback, one power window is beginning to stick, and the clock on the dash is out, but it's paid for, and I plan to keep it for still quite some time!
• May 3 - Mary wrote: In 1999 I bought a brand new 2000 Honda Accord and 11 years later it's still running great! It has 182,500 miles on it now but still taking me to work and many other places. Just got back from a trip from San Diego to San Francisco. I replaced the transmission at 168k as it started to slip on me but other than that just regular maintenance is all you need to own a Honda! I plan to keep this car until no longer runs.

It has never been in the shop. I use mobil one 5w20 every 10K. I'm on the second set of front brakes and rotors. No leaks anyware and it gets 25-30 mpg. It runs and runs and runs. I complete all maintenance on the car. My mom had a 86 Civic that got to 450k before drawing its last breath. Go honda go.
• April 29 - Carl wrote: I own a 1992 Honda Civic with 349,000 miles on it. I drive 120 miles per day to/from work. Most of the miles on the car are the easy kind - highway. I had to put an alternator in it a few years ago, and one headlight. I go about 120,000 miles between timing belts. Like its owner, it has a number of flaws - gas gauge dead, window crank apparatus dead, knobs broke and fell off, outside mirror adjusters are glued in place - etc... but this car has paid for itself three times. I love it.

Bourght in brand new in August '05 and have only had one problem with it, I had to have the fan motor for the a/c replaced a year ago. Cost was $200 at my Honda dealer. Great vehicle. Getting ready to do some routine preventitive maintenance by changing spark plugs, brakes, and drive belt. Going for a minimum of 225,000 miles.

Before that, we drove a ton of miles on the car, both city and mostly highway. This car has been driven up and down the east cost without issue and gets great gas mileage! I followed the severe maintenance schedule and had most major items done at the dealer (brake pad replacement, rotors, timing belt, water pump). The other items like the oil change or tire rotation (buy the replacement tires from a place that rotates for free) were done elsewhere. I've replaced the battery twice (not from the dealer), but it was done at 4 year intervals and expected, especially since we get all 4 seasons where I live. The car is easy to maintain and doesn't cost as much to own as a high-end luxury car, but drives great and has what I need. I'll have to replace the timing belt/water pump, but I'll probably do that myself, along with the brake pads. Honda makes some great cars that have some high durability. My last Accord (87 DX 4-door) was awesome and lasted me through college. I got it with 135k miles on it and gave it to my little brother with 210k miles on it the day I bought my current Accord. I'll try to run this car to 250k miles, so lets see!

• April 20 - Danny wrote: I purchased my 1990 Accord 5 speed new and it will turn 464,000 miles this afternoon. I am on my 4th timing belt, 2nd clutch, 2nd radiator, 2nd alternator, original starter, original engine and transmission. My Honda does not use any oil, does not smoke, does not have any leaks, does not knock, and averages 30 mpg. I have always changed the oil every 3600 miles and only use Honda's oil filter and with Castrol 5W30. Hope to be able to communicate next year that I reached a milestone of 500,000 miles. I am glad mine has lasted this long because I really do not like Honda's new designs. I am hoping they will change before I need a new one. If they don't, I would still buy another Honda.

It handles so well and is so free from rattles. The only major repair has been front brakes and rotors and I might have avoided the rotors if I had done the brakes earlier. Even though the mileage is not unusual, it is the most miles I've gotten out of a car. The car seems like it will go on for who knows how long. In a couple of years I will buy an in-law's 09 Accord, but I will keep this car in the family to see how far it can go. I do regular maintenance and change the oil every three thousand miles due to harsh New England conditions. It always pays to take care of your car. I love to read these high mileage stories!

I have had it for approx. 5 years, my dad had it for a short time before me, and my sister drove it before that. They bought the car from someone else. The body is still in decent shape, however rust is starting in pretty bad on the rear pannels. This car has done more for us than any other car that we've owned. I truly enjoy this car.

Had to rebuild the transmission the year before as the first generation (1998 was a significant re-design) V6 engines were tough on the trannys but the car runs great. Aside from maintenance I needed EGR ports replaced a few years ago, set of bearings in the left rear wheel and I need a new seat adjuster for the power driver's seat.

Besides routine maintenance, have only had to replace the front brake pads. Car has timeless style and lines. When I tell people it is a 1992, they cannot believe it, looks 10 ten years newer. Has a limited slip differental in the front, so makes driving in snow and ice much easier. Find a trustworthy mechanic and maintain your Honda or Acura by the book, and you will have a auto that will out last them all! When in doubt always go Honda, car, truck, van, lawnmower, generator, ATV, now, even airplanes! WOW!
• April 10 - Norma wrote: My Honda is a black 1998 Civic LX 4 door with 132,000 miles. I had it repainted in 2008 because the hood was faded. I've had the starter replaced because of a recall. The a/c compressor replaced twice. The brakes replaced two months ago including rotors and calipers. Just put on the second set of tires. I had the all three belts replaced and transmission fluid replaced two months ago. It looks great but the only thing I fear is that the transmission shifts hard, so some day I'll replace that. My husband hates my little car but I love my Honda!
• April 9 - Dave wrote: My 1997 Honda Civic (Rachel) almost didn't make 300k when a mechanic who told me i needed an engine rebuild. Unwilling to accept the bad diagnosis I went to another mechianic who told me all I needed was a new spark plug wire. Now we are at 309,000 and counting!

Still running on the original clutch to boot. My son and I just took a trip to Myrtle Beach - that's 311 miles one way and no problems. LOVE MY HONDA!

I had to replace the front brake pads at around 75,000 but the rears still have aprox 70% original pad left! Change oil and filter every 5-6000 miles with partial synthetic oil, think I will go to full synthetic soon due to higher mileage. I know this is not real high mileage but thought I would post as I did not see a lot of posts with 2005 or newer with high mileage. Car runs and looks like new and am looking forward to the next 100,000+. BTW I also get 30 mpg consistently and drive about 80% highway miles.

• March 24 - Darrick wrote: I currently drive a 1996 Accord LX 4 door sedan, 4 cylinder automatic. I got the car in November 2005 with 165,000 miles. Nearly 5 years later, it's at 217,000 miles and still running strong... this car is a champ! I have not made any major repairs, and it still has the original engine and transmission. Most maintenance has been routine, such as new batteries, tires, and belts. The CV boots and wheel bearings wore out and needed replacing, but that was fairly cheap and didn't occur until around 200k. I also had the radiator and valve cover gasket replaced around the same time because both had minor leaks and I didn't want to have to monitor fluid levels constantly. I recently took it on a 5300 mile road trip and it ran like a champ. Not long after, I had to replace the distributor because oil was leaking into it (woops!), but it was another minor repair. Overall, I am thoroughly impressed with the car. No engine noises, smoke, or leaks! My girlfriend drives a 1997 Civic with 223,000 miles and I keep telling her I'm racing her to 300,000. I hope to drive the thing right into the ground. LONG LIVE HONDA!

I was a saleman at a Honda dealership in Portland, ME, and as I sat in the display model, I wished I could find a job where I could sit in the CRV all day and be paid. So I bought one and went west, using it as a delivery vehicle in Maine, Oregon, Washington, New Mexico, Colorado and Arizona. (It's crossed the country five times.) I've hauled everything from 25 million dollars of wafers for Intel to 1/2 a million pounds of lost luggage for Albuquerque Airport. I drive 200-600 miles/night with oil changes every 5,000 miles. It is still on the original clutch. I've replaced the catalytic converter @150,000 miles and brakes/rotors @280,000. Last week I took care of the failing systems... It was running on three cylinders. Clutch plate had popped a spring, which we found, grinding around inside. Radiator had four inch crack. Transmission gears and bearings bad. Replaced with the following: Engine; Used Swap (with 80,000 mi) $1,000 Transmission; Used Swap (60,000 mi) $450 Radiator; New (NAPA) $99 Tune Up Kit; New (NAPA) $75 Clutch; New (ATM) (NAPA) $150 Timing belt; New (OEM) $70 Thermostat/Waterpump/Oilseals/Belts/Bearings; New (OEM) $150 Fluids, New (OEM) $60 Air Filter; New (OEM) $20 Cabin Air Filter; New (OEM) $20 Fuel Filter; New (NAPA) $15 Valve Cover Gasket; New (NAPA) $10 - Labor $850 (2 days) Next Scheduled Maintianace 500,000 Miles ! :-)

Given the fact the car runs like it did 14 years ago, this thing is going to be on the road after I am gone. My son drives the car now and I am just amazed at how tight the steering is on the vehicle. What seems to set the car apart is the firm steering / handling even after all these years.
