 The vehicle that introduced American consumers to gasoline-electric hybrid technology, the Honda Insight remains the most fuel-efficient EPA-rated automobile on the road.
The Insight debuted Honda's innovative Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) hybrid powerplant. The IMA system, which integrates a high output electric motor/generator between the engine and transmission, combined with the Insight's rigid aluminum body structure and world-class aerodynamic design, helps the Insight achieve EPA city/highway fuel economy ratings of 60/66 (manual) and 57/56 (CVT) mpg, respectively.
Equipped with its continuously variable transmission (CVT), Insight meets California's stringent Super Ultra-Low Emission Vehicle (SULEV) standard, making it the world's cleanest and most fuel-efficient gasoline-powered automobile.
