Last Friday afternoon (10/4) I got a call from my friend Brian "What are you doing this weekend?" - I was a little alarmed but decided to be brave! "Nothing... what's going on?".
He proceed to tell me that one of his customers with an S2000 had invited him (and one of his classic S Cars) to attend an S2000 gathering not to far from his house (and where the classic Honda Sports gathering is held each year).
It was a bit short notice but with some bribing I was able to talk my significant other into zooming down for the weekend... I think it was the fact that he didn't have to spend all day Saturday working on our S Car that finally talked him into the trip :-)
Rick Hesel organized a spectacular weekend... headquarted at the Marriott in Fishkill, NY with absolutely perfect convertible weather!
Saturday morning included car clinics and check ups such as:
Odyssey Fog lamp install
Spark plug torque check
Pinnacle Braking System
Front bumper removal
V1 radar install options
and more... Vendors offered accessories for S2000 models and sponsors were invited.
Saturday afternoon was spent at Stewart Airport autocrossing. There were more than 70 vehicles at the event and it was an AMAZING site! Normally driving around you do a double take when you see one of the carS... "Wow - look! It's an S2000!" Well Saturday, that changed to "Oh look - another S2000..." - well OK it was more exciting than that :-)
There were hard tops in black and silver, wild flame paint jobs, customizations of all types including a GPS and radar detector that had been molded into the top header panel over the windshield.
We could only attend for one day so I'm not sure what Sunday held for them other than some scenic drives around the area. The weather stayed good and I'm sure they had a great time.
And now, without further ado - here are the car pictures!
